How to Train Safely and Effectively

Thank you for training with TOS.

This page exists for one reason: to give you a clear, safe starting point after class. Right now, there is only one thing we want you to do before anything else.

Step 1: Read This Article Before You Practice at Home

Before doing any practice at home, you must understand how to do it safely.

Dry fire is one of the most effective ways to improve your shooting. It is also where most negligent discharges inside the home occur when people skip steps or make assumptions.

Start here:

Proper Dry Fire at Home: How to Train Safely and Effectively

That article walks you through:

  • Removing live ammunition from the training area

  • Properly clearing your firearm

  • Choosing a safe direction inside your home

  • Starting and ending a dry fire session safely

Do not practice until you have read it.

Step 2: Do Short, Intentional Practice Sessions

Once you have read the dry fire article, your next step is simple.

  • Choose one room in your home

  • Remove all live ammunition from that room

  • Clear your firearm using the same process every time

  • Practice for 10 to 15 minutes

  • Put the firearm away when finished

Do not rush. Do not multitask. If you are distracted or unsure, stop.

Consistency matters more than volume.

Step 3: Stay Connected for Updates and Training Content

As we publish additional training resources, we will share them through our official channels.

Final Note

A single class gives you information. Repetition builds skill.

Start slow. Train safely. Build good habits now so they are there when you need them.

Stay disciplined.
